Since the hosts of the place, Ioana and Andreas, life an Offgrid life with Permaculture Principles and Ethics guiding their everyday life, what place would be better than this to exchange experience and ideas? In a non-formal session they will present their project, vision and everyday life as modern Permaculture-homesteaders in the Transylvanian countryside.
Ioana although not having grown up in the rural community of Posaga that surrounds Dupa Gard, has strong roots in her grandparents home. She will take you by the hand and, during an immersive hike, take you on a journey into history, traditions and culture of this valley. A unique chance to experience authentic Apuseni spirit, while taking in natures breathtaking beauty in these mountains.
During the Transylvania Permaculture Campfire festival, the talented artist Ursu will take the stage to lead a workshop and deliver a breathtaking performance. Ursu is a master of the traditional wind instrument Kaval, deeply rooted in the folk music of the Balkans and the Middle East.
What is a Kaval?
The Kaval is a long, end-blown flute widely used in countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, North Macedonia, Albania, and Turkey. It is primarily made of wood and features seven finger holes on the front and a thumb hole on the back. The Kaval is renowned for its warm, melancholic sound and is often used in folk music to express a variety of emotions.
Ursu's Workshop and Performance
Ursu will not only teach the techniques of playing the Kaval during the festival but also take the audience on an emotional journey through the sounds of the Balkans and the Middle East. His performance will offer a unique blend of traditional melodies and modern interpretations, immersing the audience in the fascinating world of folk music. Ursu will combine African drums, flutes, and the Kaval with electronic elements to create a dynamic and layered soundscape. This fusion of traditional and modern sounds will transport the audience into a world of self-reflection and freedom.
With Ursu's workshop and performance, the Transylvania Permaculture Campfire will become an unforgettable experience that touches both the soul and delights the senses.
