Transylvanian Permaculture Campfire 2026

A Celebration of Community, Regeneration, and Collective Dreaming

The Permaculture Campfire is THE highlight of our event year at După Gard. From August 6–10, 2026, we invite you to the breathtaking landscape of the Apuseni Mountains in Poșaga for a very special spectacle.

What is it about? Our primary goal is to connect the permaculture community of Romania with the international scene. In a world facing huge issues, we provide a space to not only understand these challenges but to take things into our own hands through social permaculture and collective action.

Workshops & Highlights:

  • Dragon Dreaming Workshop: We are honored to host Beatriz Gallego Maraver for our main session. You will learn the Win-Win-Win philosophy (Individual, Community, Earth) and explore the four stages of the project wheel: Dreaming, Planning, Doing, and Celebrating.
  • Open Space Technology (OST): Aside from the main sessions, we use OST to allow for spontaneous, participant-led workshops. Possible topics include herbalism, storytelling, macrame, or permaculture gardening—bring your wisdom to the circle!
  • Art & Rhythm: Experience evening drum workshops and musical performances by Sound of Om (Ursu).
  • A Cosmic Spectacle: Our gathering is perfectly timed for the peak of the Perseids meteor shower, which uniquely sets the scene over the Carpathian Mountains.

Life at the Camp: We live communally and close to nature. Accommodation is in your own tent. This is a self-sufficient event: we provide drinking water, fire pits with large pots, and – depending on availability – fresh perma-vegetables from our garden. Participants bring their own food and personal crockery. We recommend bringing sun and rain protection, as well as warm clothes for our cool Carpathian nights. If you plan to join the guided hike in our "ingenious mountain world," sturdy hiking boots and large water bottles are mandatory.

Fees:

  • Suggested Fee: 100€ (500 lei) for those with a stable income.
  • Solidarity: A sliding scale and reduced fee options are available for those in need.
  • Contributors: If you represent a national permaculture association or are willing to contribute a workshop or performance, you get free access.

Essential Rules: To ensure a harmonious gathering, we follow these guidelines: personal responsibility, kindness, and non-violence. We maintain a strict no-drug policy during daylight hours, including alcohol. To protect the local ecosystem and the event's atmosphere, no pets are allowed.
